Jeonbuk holds both west-coast tidal flats and inland mountains. The dolmen sites at Gochang are UNESCO World Cultural Heritage, and the west-coast flats are inscribed as World Natural Heritage under 'Getbol, Korean Tidal Flats'. You meet structures left thousands of years ago and a living wetland on the same trip.
Namwon is known as the home of the Dongpyeonje school of pansori — a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage form in which one singer and one drummer carry a story for hours. Gwanghalluwon Garden, the setting of the classic tale Chunhyangjeon, sits in the town centre.
Berry farming is active here, so visiting in harvest season shows you how a farming year runs. Heritage, ecology, art and agriculture overlapping in one province is what makes Jeonbuk distinctive.
